It’s here! It’s here and now! (Hear it now!) It’s “Stuck in Another Time (feat. Hank Engel)” live-off-the-floor at Dept.9 Studios. No click track! If you feel it share it!
We recorded this song back in March with studio maestro Stew Kirkwood at Dept.9 Studios here in Edmonton. It was so great to sing with my old bandmate Hank Engel again. There is something almost spooky about singing with Hank. Our voices kinda meld and end up sounding almost like one voice. We also just immediately start having fun when we’re together. Craig Metcalfe was in town as well (and played tambourine on the recording) so it was almost an Idyl Tea reunion!
Also joining me in the studio for this session was my awesome band, who I’m so grateful to play with. They’re my dear friends and they play their asses off every time we get together. Alice Kos plays a beautiful vintage Hammond B3 on this recording complete w/tube driven Leslie speaker (look for it at the end of the video). My rhythm section has some serious Edmonton music scene pedigree, but perhaps most notably they held down beat and the low end of E-town alt-country legends “Old Reliable”. Mike Silverman plays a Gretsch drum kit on this session while Tom is on a Rickenbacker bass.
